Mother, Mom, Mama, Ma

A few days ago we celebrated mothers and it was made special for several reasons.  Yes, I appreciated flowers, cards, gifts, phone calls, but most important was that I was able to sit in church with one of my sons and his family.  Nothing makes me  happier, and he would totally not understand that.  But anyway...

The message that day was very encouraging with regards to the way I parented. (Did I make mistakes - sure, plenty and I apologized again).    Scripture examples were given of how Godly women are Teachers, Preachers and Life Givers.  I liked that!  I would suggest that what was shared is totally out of fashion now.  Our country is in a moral free fall due to the lack of Biblical influence and we either bow to scripture or listen to culture.

In II Timothy 1: 5, Paul reminds us of how Timothy was influenced by his mother and yes, his grandmother.  I thought again about the influence of Craig's mom and how it is still felt even though she has passed.

If you want to know where we are as a culture, check out II Timothy 3:1-5.  It's difficult, but accurate.  We moms balance many areas; marriage for some, parenting - a huge challenge, careers, extended family, friendships, and our future is dependent on whether we believe the scriptures, or bow to culture?

I appreciated how he described the role of men in the family.   'Don't deny the headship that was placed on you; lead with humility, protect, honor and serve your wife.'

Thankful for a meaningful day with family.
