Thankful

So Christmas was very good and I am thankful.  There have been conflicts in the past, and this one had peace at last.  The reason for the peace is that there has been a meeting of hearts and minds and then forgiveness.  It takes courage to face the truth about ourselves and then really make a change.

The book I keep reading that helps me almost daily is either Barking to the Choir, or Tattoos on the Heart.  It has example after example of people who have overcome their difficult pasts.  Here is what spoke today:

"Nothing can render a person more a stranger to himself than the unspeakable things he was forced to endure when young.  Coming to terms with the traumas of one's childhood is an arduous task.  (indeed!)  It's much easier not to look at it, and easier for everyone else not to hear of it.  Denial is perfectly beneficial until it's not anymore.  Then we need to find the safe place to peel back the layers of our own pain."  Dang, G!
