What is Lent?

So Lent is something rather new to me...we didn't practice it in the 'label' I was raised under.  However, I like the idea of the definition I found:  "a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter."    As we make a conscience effort to draw closer to God, this moves us along on our spiritual journey.  God's peace as you prepare for Spring and Easter.
